Changing the filter regularly is important to ensure that your dehumidifier works optimally - both in terms of dehumidification capacity and energy efficiency.
We recommend that you change the filter twice a year, or more often if your dehumidifier is used in dusty environments.
A fresh filter helps to:
If you have a dehumidifier with control panel you will receive an automatic filter alarm when it is time to change. But even without an alarm, it's a good idea to set your own schedule, for example by changing filters in conjunction with spring and autumn cleaning.
You can also look for signs that the filter is becoming clogged:
Changing the filter is easy and requires no tools. Watch the video for a step-by-step guide (note that the video below shows an older dehumidifier model - on newer models in the RCF range, there is no need to open the lid).
When the filter becomes dirty, the airflow through the dehumidifier is obstructed. This makes it harder for the dehumidifier to draw in moist air and reduces its capacity. At the same time, the fan has to work harder, which increases energy consumption and puts more strain on the system.
Be sure to clean the dehumidifier when you change the filter. Gently vacuuming the inside will help keep the system free of dust and dirt that can otherwise negatively affect its functionality.
