Changing the filter in your ventilation unit

To make your Acetec FTX unit as energy-efficient and reliable as possible, we recommend that you change the filter at least once a year. In many homes - especially in dusty or exposed environments - it may be wise to change twice a year to maintain optimal airflow.

How often should you change the filter in a ventilation unit?

In general, the filters in an FTX unit should checked regularly and changed once or twice a year, depending on the environment. Change the filters immediately if they look dirty or if you notice a change in airflow. Clean filters are essential for energy efficiency, component protection and good indoor air quality.

Air quality determines how often you should change the filter

How quickly the filters get dirty depends largely on the conditions around your home. You should check the filters more often if:

• you live near a busy road or an industrial estate
• you have pets which releases hair and particles
• the living environment is dusty or extra pollen-rich
• the ventilation system is running on high flows most of the year

When the filters start to get clogged, it can lead to:

• reduced ventilation and lower airflows
• poorer filtration of supply air (pollen, dust and particles pass through more easily)
• increased energy consumption when the fans need to work harder
• increased load on the components of the unit

Regular filter changes ensure that your FTX unit performs as intended and that the indoor climate maintains a high standard all year round.

Feel free to change both filters at the same time

An FTX unit uses two filters:

• Supply air filter - purifies the air entering the home
• Exhaust air filter - protects the inside of the unit from dust drawn out of the dwelling

For best performance, we recommend that both filters are changed at the same time. When you order filters from us, they are delivered separately - you therefore need one supply air filter and one exhaust air filter at each change.

It's also a good idea to keep a spare pair of filters at home. As long as they are stored in their unbroken packaging, protected from moisture and sunlight, they will keep their good looks until you need them.
