On a sunny winter day in February, Acetec visits the town of Bollnäs to take part in an interesting project carried out by Teknisk Fastighetsservice Bollnäs (tfservice). On site, we meet project manager Mikael Jönsson, who shows how they have modernized the ventilation in one of Bollnäs Bostäder’s properties.
In the project, 30 older ventilation units with crossflow heat exchangers from the early 1980s were replaced with modern heat recovery units from Acetec, complete with a cooker hood. The chosen model was the EvoAir A30T EPP G3 White, combined with the Monolit 600mm cooker hood in white.
After a brief introduction, we enter one of the apartments, where the new unit is installed above the cooker hood.
How have the residents in the apartments experienced the change? According to Mikael Jönsson, the difference was noticed quickly.
“Shortly after the installer had connected and balanced the unit, the residents noticed a big difference. The indoor climate has improved, and the air quality is perceived as much better. In addition, the noise level is significantly lower, which is important in home environments.”
The heat recovery units are also more energy-efficient compared to the previous crossflow heat exchangers. Mikael continues:
“Between 80 and 90% of the heat is recovered from the exhaust air, which can help reduce heating costs.”
When Teknisk Fastighetsservice chose a new ventilation unit, several factors came into play.
“It’s always exciting to try new products, especially when they come from a Swedish company that develops, manufactures, and quality-assures locally in Sweden.”, säger Mikael.
He highlights the compact design of the EvoAir A30T as a major advantage in this project.
“When we replace crossflow heat exchangers with rotary exchangers, the ducts need to cross. In that case, it’s an advantage that the unit is low-profile, which makes the installation smoother. In addition, the components are easily accessible. The circuit board is housed in a small box between the unit and the cooker hood, which both protects it and makes it easier to access.”
Another advantage is the low weight.
“The EvoAir A30T is made of EPP, a very lightweight material, which means the unit weighs only 25 kg. This makes it easy to install on your own without needing two people.”
Acetec delivers the units complete for easy commissioning.
Everything needed for installation is included, including a user-friendly control unit. The EvoAir A30T also features an internal post-heating coil., berättar Mikael.
He also mentions an advantage of Acetec’s top-connected heat recovery units:
“They are reversible, unlike many others on the market. Usually, you have to order the units in a right- or left-hand configuration, but the EvoAir A30T has hatches on both sides, so it can be installed from either direction. This makes things easier for the installer and reduces the risk of incorrect orders.”
We thank Mikael Jönsson and Teknisk Fastighetsservice in Bollnäs for sharing their experience with us. We look forward to more successful collaborations in the future!
